He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The president explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Policy Revisions
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy prompted the government to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor stated on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, per the military.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
