This young athlete maintains considerable social media presence
The young golfer will have plenty of prominent cheerleaders when she begins her LPGA debut on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is related to a former US president, was granted a sponsor's invitation to participate at Florida's Annika event in Florida.
Her grandfather, someone who loves golf, owns numerous international courses and often matches against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we have some close matches," she mentioned.
Kai explained that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Just don't get nervous."
"My grandpa practically told me to go out there and relax," she added.
"To me, he's simply a regular grandfather. He won't be there this weekend. He's focused on running the country, making him rather occupied."
While still amateur, Kai has participated in just three tournaments in 2024 and holds ranking 461 in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
But she's able to receive tips from 15-time major champion, romantically involved with her mother.
"He stands as the top athlete globally," Kai stated.
"Furthermore, he's an even better human being. He suggested me to play, enjoy myself, following whatever happens."
She'll challenge several most prominent players in women's golf at the competition, such as world number two Nelly Korda, British Charley Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Officials commented that Kai's presence exposes golf to different demographics, specifically among the next generation.
The social media influencer has millions of followers and recently launched her own fashion and living company.
She begins at late afternoon GMT.
