Star Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views After Voicing Disputed Coronavirus Documentary
Liam Neeson has given his narration to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and commends ex- health official the political figure.
The Film's Provocative Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a popular book written by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for assertions that the virus was caused by a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
The book's writing partner, the executive producer, has penned books with conspiracy-prone media personality a known commentator. Heckenlively took to social media hailing Neeson's involvement in the project.
An Unequivocal Denial
Representatives for the actor have provided a response pushing back against implications that he holds anti-vaccine sentiments.
"We all recognize that corruption might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be conflated with rejection of vaccines," the statement explains. "Liam has never been, and is not, anti-vax. His long work with Unicef highlights his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement continued that the star did not shape the documentary's editorial content and that concerns about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.
Major Assertions Featured in the Film
According to the documentary, the narration read by Neeson makes several provocative statements:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It argues that "science has become highly politicised."
- Kennedy is interviewed stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they just aren't properly vetted."
- The film further attacks pandemic restrictions, saying they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it mentions a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Past Controversy and Ongoing Debates
The documentary further cites a 2004 BBC documentary about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the focus of a correction by the network for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, the political figure instructed the CDC to revise its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism. This assertion is repeated in the documentary, even with a fresh analysis from the global health body stating no connection has been found.
A Past Record of Support
Standing in contrast to the documentary's message, Neeson has formerly expressed strong support for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Previously, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable human success story," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's script stating, "This marks not the finish of our journey. Rather, it is the beginning of a new chapter."
