Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless start to the Premier League campaign.
Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the team - are part of the names to be considered by the club leadership.
Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.
Nevertheless the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.
The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.
O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.
The ex- West Ham player is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
