Arsenal's manager has expressed confidence that his side can continue to cope with player absences after revealing that star striker Kai Havertz remains out for a few more weeks.

Extended Absence for German Star

The Germany international has been sidelined since August due to an operation on his knee. Initially expected to return sooner, the manager stated the player encountered a problem when increasing his training and failed to reach “the required stage.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a team that is far more dependable and has more options,” commented Arteta.

Selection Dilemma for Midweek Fixture

This update creates a selection headache for the midweek match against Brentford. The manager needs to decide between persisting with Mikel Merino, who scored playing out of position on Sunday, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return from a muscle injury in the latter stages. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus is also in contention after 11 months out.

Fitness Doubts Remain

More doubts affect defender William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who both missed the Stamford Bridge game. Therefore, recent arrivals Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié will probably start again in the heart of the defence for the table-toppers.

The manager is convinced the substantial investment on reinforcements in the last transfer window has left Arsenal in a far better place to navigate such setbacks.

In response if a larger pool of players was aiding their title quest, Arteta was emphatic. “Indeed, since the current term has presented greater challenges in some areas, and now the situation with the backline,” he continued.
