'I love you, I'm sorry': What Sean 'Diddy' Combs did as soon as he heard the verdict.
Courtroom sketch
90 days prior, Sean "Diddy" Combs knelt down in a New York court after a panel cleared him of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
"I'm returning home," he declared, turning around to face his family, who had stood by him daily the trial.
On Friday, a more reserved figure of the rap magnate sat emotionless and still in his position, as the judge sentenced him to over four years in prison.
Following the judicial pronouncement of his sentence, the rapper peered over his shoulder at his loved ones and looked to silently form the words: "I love you, I'm sorry."
This marked a solemn instant to signify the conclusion of a turbulent two-month court case that forever altered the popular perception of Combs - formerly a globally recognized music star.
Trial Exhibits
The tribunal observed disturbing recordings of Combs' reputed gatherings - sex parties he had filmed featuring hired male escorts and his ex-girlfriend Cassandra Ventura and "Jane", an unnamed accuser.
They also saw a video, that had previously gone viral, of him striking Ventura in a accommodation facility passageway.
Court Decisions

Family members arriving for sentencing
On Friday, Judge Subramanian told a dejected Combs that his crimes and abuse of his past romantic interests warranted 50 months in detention.
As he told the court that Combs had employed his celebrity and influence to "subjugate" his complainants, the entertainment tycoon failed to raise his eyes, maintaining a blank demeanor for the court's extended statement.
His contingent of more than three dozen loved ones were gathered in the judicial chamber supporting him.
Judicial Contentions
His lawyers anticipated he would be released from incarceration in a few weeks, requesting from the court a sentence of 14 months, thirteen of those he had earlier fulfilled.
The prosecution had alleged Combs of running a criminal enterprise to pressure women toward non-consensual and substance-enhanced sexual activities.
Although he had been acquitted of those most severe accusations, sex-trafficking and racketeering, they had sought a judgment of more than eleven years in prison.
Legal Hearings
During the all-day hearing, the tribunal heard extended addresses from numerous lawyers, his sons and daughters, a pastor and a criminal justice reform advocate who stated to the tribunal that Combs was a changed and sober man following incarceration.
They also watched a edited footage from his legal team featuring him with his sons and daughters as well as the memorial service for his ex-partner Kim Porter, the mother of some of his children who died in 2018.
Accuser Aftermath
However the tribunal didn't receive from the accusers personally, following an individual who intended to address the court, Mia, a past aide to Combs who gave evidence without identification, pulled out after the attorneys prepared a correspondence labeling her dishonest.
The judge expressed gratitude to the "courageous females" who had the fortitude to emerge with the claims regarding Combs, informing them they weren't merely addressing 12 men and women in the jury box".
Instead of personal testimonies on Friday, Subramanian read several of the victims' remarks from evidence, telling Combs: "These were significant violations that permanently damaged two women."
Combs' Address
Combs himself addressed the court for the first time since the beginning of his trial.
Exhaling deeply ahead of getting up to present his address, he pleaded with the judge for "mercy".
He perused wearing spectacles from a sheet positioned ahead, trying to maintain eye contact with the judge as he told him: "I have only myself to hold responsible."
He began crying as he turned around to face his loved ones and address his mom: "I disappointed you as a child."
Family Testimony
The moment represented another instance crying occurred during the session.
Many of Combs' supporters shed tears during six children's came to the podium to ask the judge for a reduced term, telling him they needed their father.
The female and male offspring grouped tightly with interlocked limbs as several of them cried while speaking the court official.
Sentencing Rationale
The court official expressed during ruling that he had taken into consideration Combs' family ties, but said he also had to take into account the harm he had inflicted to his two victims.
The offenses were grave, he elaborated, observing they occurred despite a government inquiry and the leak of a video depicting him assaulting Ventura in the corridor of lodging establishment.
"A history of good works cannot erase your history," he declared.
Concluding Remarks
However, he informed a distressed Combs, who twice tilted his head up and sighed, there was light at the end of his jail sentence.
"Mr. Combs, your household, you are going to overcome this," he stated.
Following the court official's concluding remarks, Combs offered a brief acknowledgment to his dozens of family members and friends, before slipping quietly back through the door to be taken back to a federal jail in the New York borough.
